Beauty
The definition of beauty has been skewed. There’s no doubt about it. The definition has been mutilated so much that we can’t even identify it anymore. It now has a set of guidelines that determine whether someone is beautiful or not, the blame mainly going to the media. Magazines, television, movies, fashion and even video games have all been factors.
Males must be muscular, have 6-pack abs and tall. Females must be skinny, tall, clear skin and have big breasts and ass. It’s sad. It’s blinded everyone to the real beauty. I believe everyone is beautiful if you can see it. You have to look beyond our current definition in order to see it.
I sometimes ask my female friends if they ever considered modeling. The answer I always get is that they’re not pretty enough, too short, and that they’re not big enough in their ass or boobs or too fat. That’s bullshit. You are beautiful. You can model if you damn well please to. The purpose of modeling is to showcase beauty. You know all those publicized models? They look just like everyone else if you take away the make-up and Photoshop.
This also goes for males. A majority of us believe that we have to have a great body in order for women to consider us. The current definition lowers the self-esteem of many men and women in the world and the only way to combat this is for us to change our definition and to accept that we are all beautiful in our own way and to disregard the current definition.
Beauty doesn’t even have to be a physical appearance. It can be found in your actions and personality. It can be found in your kindness and selflessness.
In our current lifestyle, many of us are always on the move and don’t even stop to gaze upon the beauty that is already around is. It’s everywhere. It’s in the sky, nature, the ambient sounds and even our architecture. Life would be so much more optimistic and happier if we took the time to enjoy these little things. That’s partly one reason why I enjoy photography. I get to capture beauty in places people don’t normally see or notice and bring them out there.
